Great Nosh 2008
Late last year I got Gnome to take me on a couple of bush runs and then in January I did the Party Pooper option of Beyond the Black stump
and really enjoyed it. So after tri season was over, I decided I'd like to do some other bush races and Great Nosh
appeared on the calendar. As many of you know I've been working very hard to manage a hip issue and it's improving so I decided I'd give the run a go. I started the race with Emjay and Amy right at the back as I needed a late toilet stop before the start!
The run follows a gentle meandering narrow track over the first 5ks. I did manage to roll my ankle twice in this area but just worked on trying to land it safely and the pain subsided. We headed up under the Roseville Bridge and Amy and I took the left side path and ended up moving ahead of Emjay. We crossed the bridge and as we ran down the other side we waved to Gnome who was taking photos. From here there was a lot more uphill, the track got really narrow and there were times of scrambling up rocks and hopping over little creeks. At times we appeared out of the bush to run behind houses and then back into bush. We caught up with Nihao about here. Over the last few ks we ran along a wide trail covered in mulch which you just sunk into then back into the bush for the last k and finally onto the oval to finish in 1.57.23 watch time. Poor Gnome saw Nihao and got some good finishing shots of her but wasn't expecting me to be a second or two behind her :-).
Afterwards the RunClub group headed out for brunch and dissected races. A nice end to a good run.

About time you took over blogging duties from Gnome ;-) Of course that's not to say that I don't enjoy his blog posts :-)
Congrats on a great race yesterday TA. I'm so pleased to hear that your hip enjoyed the experience too.
It's actually a shame I talked R out of doig the race; it's been while since we had a coffee morning Gnome :-)
Great running TA. Something like that is a good way to test the hip - and it looks like it passed.
He was focusing on Nihao and failed to see you? How could that be?!
Nearly 2 hours in the bush is a good hip tester - well done :)
Good to hear from you, TA! Great trail run too...beats running on the road any day.
Tell Gnome not to try any funky dancing now that he's off crutches!
