Transmission will resume after a short break...

I won't be training this week. Going on strike. That'll show 'em!

My little niggle from last week has turned into shin pain that isn't going away, so I have two options - a) Rest, Ice, Elevation & Voltaren and hope that it gets better quickly enough that I can still get in some reasonable training in the remaining weeks, or b) continue with lower intensity stuff and try to nurse it through.

The danger with a) is that it might take 6 weeks to come good, and then I'm up the creek. The problem with b) is that, although I have some experience in nursing my shin through, I don't really want to go there again :-( . Hence, I'll go with a) at least for this week and see what happens. No running 'till a gentle trial on Wednesday evening, and I re-assess in the light of that.

I'm confident that I'll be OK one way or the other, so the entry form is still going in this week. I am going to Canberra (but no, I won't be stupid :-))

[EDIT] p.s. I shouldn't have omitted to thank Cptn Chunderbolt for escorting my mate Darren around the CR5k course on Saturday morning. Muchas Gracias, mate. Shin pain notwithstanding, I had a ball running with Kit & Eagle (big PBs like that are especially fun when you're not the one doing the hard work!! :-) On top of that, I think we set a new PB for breakfast - I think I got home about 11:30...

Good choice Gnome - nothing to lose at this stage by having a break - those running gods will get really nervous with you not paying them homage and they will shine upon you to get your attention back ;-)

Option A sounds the way to go. You've done all the hard yakka, a few days rest will hopefully sort it all out. Fingers crossed.

Great work pacing Katie to that fantastic PB yesterday!

Sounds like a good approach Gnome. I hope it clears up very quickly and you're back on the road.

Good gnome!!! A easy week will not harm you at all... you have a great base and fitnes. Hmmm on strike you say... sounds nice ;-)

I hope it clears quickly... either way look after yourself!

And a HUGE thanks for running with me- yes I was doing the hard work but the generosity is greatly appreciated!
